Château Bianca 2011 Pinot Noir Review & Tasting Notes

A review of Chateau Bianca 2011 Pinot Noir for Weekend Wine Reviews #345.

Chateau Bianca 2011 Pinot Noir

Chateau Bianca 2011 Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley in Oregon is an elegant example of Oregon pinot noir made with careful attention to craft. Produced by a fourth-generation winemaking family, Chateau Bianca keeps production deliberately small to prioritize quality over quantity. The label lists this wine as 100% Pinot Noir, and the bottle delivers a nuanced, approachable expression of the variety.

On the nose, the wine shows an intriguing mix of fresh, earthy and savory notes: sun-dried tomato aromas carried on cool, farm-like air, subtle green hints of freshly cut grass, and dusty, sun-warmed raspberry. These elements combine to create a rustic, authentic bouquet that reflects the vineyard’s terroir.

On the palate, flavors lean toward ripe fruit and warm spice. Ripe cantaloupe emerges alongside sweet spice accents such as cinnamon, nutmeg and candied ginger. The wine remains light-bodied and highly drinkable, making it a pleasant choice for warmer weather or casual sipping.

Our impression: herbal tones on the nose with touches of dark cherry; those dark cherry notes continue onto the palate with a restrained spice presence. The overall profile is light, refreshing and balanced—an enjoyable summer pinot noir that is easy to appreciate on its own or paired with lighter fare.
