Patriotic Independence Day Breakfast Ideas and Recipes

Flag Yogurt

Start your Independence Day morning with an easy, patriotic breakfast made from just three simple ingredients: Greek yogurt, blueberries, and strawberries. It’s quick to assemble, visually festive, and perfect for celebrating the holiday.

I’ll be working all day photographing the Fort Hood Freedom Fest, sharing the festivities on Facebook and Twitter so service members who are deployed can join in virtually. The event promises carnival rides, classic fair food, a concert by Kelly Clarkson, and a stirring flag ceremony. More than 200 Soldiers will also re-enlist in a mass formation to renew their commitment to our country. It’s a meaningful way to spend the Fourth of July.

Whether you’re gathering with family, watching a parade, or enjoying a quiet morning at home, I hope you have a wonderful Independence Day.

Independence Day Breakfast

Ingredients

  • 1 container Greek yogurt
  • 10 blueberries
  • 1 strawberry

Instructions

  • Scoop the Greek yogurt into a bowl, smoothing the surface slightly to create a clean canvas.
  • Slice the strawberry lengthwise into thin strips and arrange them across the yogurt to resemble the red stripes of the U.S. flag.
  • Place rows of blueberries in the top-left corner to suggest the canton of stars. Four short rows or a cluster works well to create a blue field with white space from the yogurt showing through.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy this fresh, festive breakfast.
