Raspberry Southern Sweet Tea

Ingredients

  • 3 Black tea bags (such as Lipton)
  • 8 cups Water, divided
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 12 oz Raspberries

Instructions

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and add the tea bags. Let steep for 15 minutes, then remove the bags.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the remaining 4 cups of water with the sugar and raspberries. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Reduce heat to medium and simmer for about 10 minutes, mashing the raspberries as they cook to release their juices.
  • Remove from heat and strain the mixture through cheesecloth or a fine strainer, discarding solids. You should be left with a vibrant raspberry syrup.
  • Combine the brewed tea and the strained raspberry mixture in a large pitcher. Stir well and chill.
  • Serve over plenty of ice and enjoy.
