Grilled Pork Chops
When prepared correctly, grilled pork chops are incredibly flavorful and satisfying.
These chops are so good you’ll reach for the recipe again and again.
You can cook them on any grill, or use an air fryer set to 400°F for 25–30 minutes depending on thickness and how well done you prefer them.

I prefer my pork chops well done with a few charred bits around the bone and tender meat inside — a family favorite that we enjoy all summer long.

I often make extra to enjoy during the week — they’re fantastic mixed with rice or served with cauliflower rice if you prefer a low-carb option.

It’s surprising I haven’t shared this simple recipe sooner. After more than a decade of blogging, the most straightforward, reliable dishes sometimes slip through the cracks.
Grilled pork chops don’t require fancy techniques — just good seasoning, proper heat, and a little patience — and you’ll be rewarded with a delicious result.

Grilled pork chops are easy to prepare, full of flavor, and ideal for warm-weather meals.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1/4 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon honey or sugar (stevia works as well)
- 1 teaspoon garlic
- 1 tablespoon onion
- 1/4 teaspoon each of sage, rosemary, and thyme
- 6 pork chops, 10–12 ounces each, bone-in
- 2–3 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to 450°F with the lid closed for about 15 minutes. If using pellets, cherrywood is a nice choice; prepare charcoal as you normally would.
- In a small bowl, combine kosher salt, black pepper, honey or sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and the dried herbs.
- Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels and season both sides evenly with the spice mixture.
- Rub the outside of each chop with olive oil to help with browning and prevent sticking.
- Place the seasoned chops in the refrigerator, covered, and let them marinate for at least one hour.
- Grill the chops directly over the heat for about 30 minutes, flipping once halfway through the cooking time. Adjust time for thickness and grill temperature.
- Remove the pork chops from the grill when the internal temperature reaches 140°F.
- Transfer the chops to a cutting board and let them rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.
Notes
This seasoning and method work well for chicken too; adjust cooking times for different proteins and sizes.
