Spring has arrived, and while many people are busy planting gardens and arranging seasonal blooms, others are creating meaningful floral tributes. A Dutch florist has produced a striking bouquet of blue-and-yellow tulips as an homage to Ukraine.
The flowers reflect the colors of the Ukrainian flag—blue and yellow—and have drawn attention for both their beauty and symbolic value.
These two-toned tulips were crafted by Hoven & de Mooij BV, a flower shop based in the Netherlands.
The florist has named the creation “Tulipa Ukraine.” Although many admirers have asked whether these tulips can be grown naturally in these colors, they were actually dyed after harvesting rather than cultivated that way.
Because the coloring was applied to cut flowers, these tulips cannot be grown already bi-colored in the same manner. The effect is achieved through dyeing techniques performed by the florist.
In March, the shop shared images of two other flowers painted in the Ukrainian colors and posted a message expressing support: “Our thoughts go out to the people of Ukraine. God bless and stay strong!”
For those who want to recreate a similar look at home, a simple method uses white tulips and food coloring to tint the petals. By placing stems in colored water, the blooms absorb the dye and take on new hues.
