Happy New Year everyone! It’s time to settle back into our routine and talk about delicious food.
My New Year’s week was spent caring for a sick child and a feverish husband, which left me worn out and even more under the weather by New Year’s Eve. Needless to say, cooking was the last thing on my mind for a few days.
Now that we’re past that, food is back at the top of my list. I’m craving all kinds of comforting dishes — rich, warm, and satisfying meals that make the winter feel cozier.
Comfort food can be beautiful and elegant too. Take this Oven Roasted Maple BBQ Salmon from Three Beans on a String — the glaze and roasting make it look absolutely luscious. The photography on that blog is stunning and makes the dish irresistible.
Another recipe calling my name is Drunken Chicken Marsala from La’ Petit Chef. Her photos are mouthwatering and the dish itself sounds like the perfect blend of savory and comforting — ideal for warming up after a chilly day.
I Thee Cook shared a lightened-up Creamy Cajun Chicken Penne that looks incredibly inviting. It’s a great example of how you can enjoy classic comfort flavors while keeping things a little lighter — perfect when you want indulgence without feeling too heavy afterwards.
And dessert is an essential part of comfort food. The Easy Salted Caramel Sauce from Frugal Living Mom sounds like something that would make almost anything taste better — drizzle it over ice cream, apples, cake, or even a simple bowl of yogurt for an instant treat.
Near me there’s a pancake house that makes a marvelous Dutch baby pancake — puffed, golden, and perfect with a dusting of sugar or a drizzle of syrup. The Dusted Dutch Baby Pancakes from Nibbles by Nic look just as tempting and might be a weekend project I try soon.
That covers my picks for this week. I’m off to try a few of these recipes — that chicken marsala is especially hard to resist. If you stop by my Facebook page and leave a link to a recipe you’ve shared, I’ll try to give you a shout-out on social media. I aim to share as many as I can and help spread the word about great recipes.
Every recipe linked up gets pinned to the Foodie Fridays board, so feel free to share up to three of your favorite recipes each week. We’d appreciate any help spreading the word — share on Facebook, Instagram, or simply drop by to say hello. If you add the hashtag #FoodieFridays to a post, it helps us find and feature your recipe more easily.
Be sure to visit the featured blogs, check out their Pinterest boards, and see who they highlighted this week. Happy cooking and sharing — I can’t wait to see what you link up!
